What Is Seaweed Tea and Why Use It?
Seaweed tea is a natural liquid fertilizer made by soaking seaweed in water. It provides essential nutrients, improves soil health, and even helps deter pests like slugs.

Collecting Seaweed for Seaweed Tea
This is a very simple procedure.
Collect half a bucketful of unwanted seaweed as before. (Alternatively, use a string bag to collect as this will drain the sea water from the seaweed.)
Preparing the Seaweed Tea Mixture
Fill a bucket, which has a lid about a third full with the seaweed. Add rainwater to three or four inches of the rim of the bucket (or mains water that has stood in the open for a week to allow the chlorine to evaporate). Stir gently and replace the lid.
Stir gently once a week, for about six weeks, replacing the lid each time.
How to Use Seaweed Tea in the Garden
After this time, remove some of the water and dilute it, one part seaweed tea to four parts water. Use on plants – this mixture will feed plants, deter slugs and nourish the soil.
